Sometimes cooking can be a bit ... well ... challenging. It’s hard to get inspired, it’s hard to summon the energy after a day at work, make the effort to even think about making something tasty and interesting, nutritious or adventurous. That’s where we come in - we’ll do the adventurous food thinking for you! Not too adventurous of course, but we’ll bring you a box of locally grown super tasty ingredients, and some ideas on how to use them.
You can feel Spring in the air, and it's becoming evident in the box content also; asparagus is here, the spring onions are fabulous, the lettuces and salad greens are crisp and vibrant... fresh tomatoes from Kakanui in North Otago are available already!
So at the moment your boxes would contain a selection of the following -
- New season's potatoes
- Kumara
- Carrots – (new seasons carrots coming soon)
- Kakanui Tomatoes
- Spring onions
- Asparagus
- Lettuce and salad greens
- Broccoli
- Cauliflower
- Spring cabbages – red or green
- Coriander
- fresh herbs - sorrel, chives, marjoram, bayleaf, flatleaf parsley
- Chives
- Baby Kale
- Mushrooms
- Garlic shoots (the new season bulb garlic is nearly here!)
- Fresh ginger
- Turmeric
- Freshly toasted and ground spices
- Microgreens
- Sprouted seeds
If you want fruit for lunches at work we can include that too – at the moment this would be Apples, mandarins from Gisborne and possibly strawberries.
Will definitely be keen for more boxes next year. They are a highlight for me every week 😊AH
